The Angry Video Game Nerd (1980s? - March 10, 2009), real name James Rolfe, is a recurring character in the series. A member of the Network, the Angry Video Game Nerd is hired to help construct the King's portal to the Ark. He is later killed by the Arbiter aboard the station.

History

Minisodes (2008)

A retro game reviewer whose real name is James Rolfe, the Angry Video Game Nerd, or AVGN, is recruited by the King in the second minisode because he hates the Xbox 360 and because he can help build the King's doomsday device, which turns out to be a portal to the Ark. ("Minisodes")

Season 2 (2008-2009)

The Nerd annoys the King the least of the three recruits, working primarily to finish the Ark portal. ("Master Chief Meets the Network") He and the other recruits are left to guard the Arbiter and Cortana, who insults him. ("Master Chief Sucks at Constants") They fail to keep the prisoners captive and Chad Warden is executed to send a message. ("Master Chief Sucks at Super Smash Bros.") He later barricades himself with Chris Hansen and the King in the Ark control room. ("Master Chief Sucks at Computers") However, he expresses annoyance at the technology aboard the Ark and his own portal. ("Master Chief vs Hillary Clinton") Eventually, the Nerd is held hostage by the Arbiter in a standoff. After witnessing Hansen degrade himself at Master Chief's hands, the Nerd refuses to recite any embarassing phrases, and so the Arbiter executes him. ("Master Chief: The Second Finale")

Season 3 (2020)

The Nerd is one of the many deceased characters who wishes Master Chief luck in his final battle against the King. ("Master Chief Sucks at Everything")
